    you will like it

  2. I can't give you an exact dollar figure but I would imagine it is quite expensive. This engine gets worse gas mileage then most V8's, I don't know if that is of any concern to you. To answer your question you may want to contact Subaru of America.

Hey "tonuprocker", whatever that means? Stop being so foolish to believe everything that Subaru publishes, using unrealistic testing parameters! Try spending some time reading "unbiased" publications that publish real world WRX mileage at no more then 17-19 MPG on average using "premium" fuel no less.

  3. The best way to get one cheap would be to go to a junkyard, They may have a one from a Sti that was totaled, with no engine damage.

  4. We need more info on what exactly you need. If you have an 07 STI and just need a replacement, a brand new short block from Subaru will run you about $2000. A built short block from a reputable builder is only about $2500 depending on the level of build. If you are looking for a full motor for a swap, it will be more like $5000 plus you will need the ECU and wiring. Lots of work to swap an STI motor into another car. But like I said, I have no idea what you need and what for so there may be more costs involved too.

  5. 2500-3500 for a long block depending on what you need total+ labor witch is were the real cost sets in ,most shops standard rate falls in the 80-100 per hour.

the cost is going to vary greatly and your best bet to to get several estimates from local reputable shops.

cardo1111 or whatever your name is: how many 300/300 v8's get 27+ mph? get your facts straight.

cardo111 im not a magazine or net article bench jocky, i DRIVE and own a 2005 wrx sti you do not see sub 20 on an sti unless your under boost all the time and most of us see well over 25 mpg under freeway normal driving conditions so thats a driving style issue not a motor issue.

since you like to read about cars you have no real world experience with heres some linx for you from people that actual own the cars

you need to learn when not to answer questions.

  6. I disagree with the few that seem to think that it would be a bad invenstment or that a v-8 would get better gas mileage. That guy does not know what hes talking about. As others said, listen to someone who actually owns the car. And as others have stated it will be somewhere in the range of $2000-5000+- . Like stated, it all depends on what you're looking for.

check out nasioc.com as well as clubwrx.net if you want some more info on possible solutions to your specific problem.

and search around online, there are a lot of online parts stores that will have exactly what you're looking for.
