Where can I find a Subaru WRX Engine for cheap?
I have a 2002 Subaru WRX and I need to replace the Engine. Does anyone know where I can find one (used is okay) in good condition with not too many miles on it in the Chicagoland area or online? okay yeah I know ebay and craigslist, i'm talkin about other places that aren't so obvious. Oh! And some guy I work with was telling me about some website that I guess imports used engines from japan because they discard them or something like that after a certain amount of miles due to some law...does anyone know what he's talking about lol

- Look in your local classifieds on NASIOC.com. Always people selling motors. Lot's of good vendors there too that might be able to help.
Yes there are many places that import egines from Japan but mostly just the STI engines and most of them are not going to be emissions legal for use here. Even the newer ones that are will need the ECU to go with it and be re tuned to run on our lower octane gas(they get like 96oct gas in Japan) and since you said cheap, it will not work for you. WRX short blocks are all over the place and you should find on in running order for $500 to$800 easy.
- Check craigslist or forums below. There is one near me for $1500 with 40k miles. 4 hours away from you though.
