How can i transfer a file from host machine to Linux on Vmware.?

I'm using vista and want to transfer shell files from my host machine to Linux on Vmware. Hope you guys could help me out here.

  1. Probably the easiest ways are:

    1) Use an ftp client on the host machine.

    2) Set up a network share on the host machine and mount it on the Linux machine.

  3. Right if the VMware is running on your computer? The way to do this is to right click on the tab of the running VM and selct settings then the options tab. Now select shared folders and enable it. Now click add and select the browse tab select the folder you wish to be able to see on your Linux machine. Then re-boot the Linux machine and you will have a shared drive on your linuyx machine with the files you want in it.

  4. Most Linuxes can browse Windows shares by default and you don't need to do anything. Just create a shared folder on Vista and put your files there, then use Linux to browse the network and get the files. It might be that your virtual machine must have an IP address on the same subnet that the host is on, but I'm not sure about that (I think you'll be able to get the files anyways, just maybe not be able to browse).
