I am having trouble playing games using vmware fusion on my mac and watching videos how can i improve this?

I am using a fairly new mac-book and vmware 2.0 and i am running windows vista. When I start vmware a warning comes up and says that vmware fusion 3d accelerator reacquires features that are not present on my mac books processor. How would i fix this?

  1. Get a PC.

  2. Get a PC.

  3. Unfortunately the Macbook is not a very good gaming machine and is even worse when running VMWare Fusion. The difficulty is you are running a "virtual machine" on top of the Mac OS and then running Vista on that virtual machine. So you are using a lot of resources because you are running the Mac OS under everything else. And the graphics card on a Macbook is not a gaming level graphics card.

You really need at least an iMac with the top end card available for that machine, and using Bootcamp instead of VMWare Fusion plus Vista (or XP). My husband, who does a lot of PC gaming, but likes Macs for everything else, has looked into this. The 24 inch iMac just makes it possible to run modern games on the Mac, if you add the top end card offered, and use Bootcamp. What happens with Bootcamp is that you are running Windows (either XP or Vista) from a partition on the hard drive. You would boot into either the Mac OS or Windows; when you are running Windows, it is using the resources of your machine by itself, not through a virtual machine + the Mac OS.

So what it comes down to is unfortunately the MacBook is not going to be able to run PC games that are graphically demanding.
