How can you tell if VMWare is installed on a server? We have to figure out a way to find out if VMWare is installed on the server. The System Administrator is not here anymore. However, if there is a way to figure this out via a command, shell/bat script, or by looking at the file system please let me know. Thank you.

Can I have VMWare Fusion automatically launch a virtual machine on start? I just bought and installed VMware's Fusion and Windows XP Home on my Macbook. All work just fine. Each time I start fusion, it requires that I choose which Virtual Machine to launch. Since I only have one VM (XP) I would like for Fusion to launch that machine automatically on start, without me having to click on the machine and then clicking Run. Thanks in advance.

If you use apps like vmware fusion and parallels will your mac get a virus? I'm using a mac and was thinking about getting something that could run windows because using boot camps are annoying, but they partition the hard disk so that the mac and windows is separate. I don't think apps like vmware fusion and parallels does so, since they still run on the mac. So I was wondering if the mac would become prone to windows virus if I used those kind of apps.

How do I get a virtual machine to boot from Optical Drive in VMware? I have been attempting to get my Virtual Machine in VMware to boot from a CD/DVD Drive to install Fedora 12. However, all of the options I have tried so far have not worked. It does not look like it is even attempting to boot from the CD/DVD, it just tries a Network Boot then says "Operating System Not Found".
How can I fix this error message in VMware Fusion? I'm trying to install a game from a disc, but I get this error every time I click on "Connect CD/DVD": Cannot connect virtual device ide1:0. No corresponding device is available on the host. Would you like an attempt to be made to connect to this virtual device every time you power on the virtual machine? I'm running VMware fusion 2.0 on Mac OS 10.5.6 (MacBook Pro), with Windows XP Professional running as a virtual machine.
